Mariners Sweep in Conference Home Opener

College of Marin sweeps in dominating straight sets against Mendocino Wednesday in the conference home opener 25-13, 25-11, and 25-9.  The Mariners came out in the first set with fantastic offensive presence from Haleigh Brown who started and ended set one with a point scoring attack. She ended up with 11 kills and 3 errors on the night for a hitting efficiency of .381. 

 

In the second set, the Mariners started the set off strong with two back to back seven point serving runs by Rachel Reher and Kailani Kwan-Sy to go up 14-2 early. “We have been working really hard on serving tough, consistent, and putting our opponents in out of system situation. We are really proud of the growth and our hard work showed tonight,” said coach Lisa Vasquez. The Mariners ended the night with a season high 11 aces for the match.  

 

On the defensive side, setter Riley Geary had a career high 22 digs for the match. “She is reading and elevating the ball which make it easy to run our out of system offense.” noted coach Vasquez.College of Marin will head to San Francisco this Friday for a non-conference double header against Shasta and CCSF at 5 and 7pm.
