Mariners sweep Comets 3-0

Mariners sweep Comets 3-0

The Mariners won their first conference match by set scores of (25-15; 25-20; 25-15) at the Don Barksdale Court.

There was a big momentum shift in the middle of set one when the Mariners came back from a seven-point deficit. That momentum carried through to win set one and the team held on to that energy to sweep the match against Contra Costa.

“I am proud of the work the team put in during preseason to prepare us for our first conference game. We played as a unit which was our preseason goal.” -Coach Pate

The offense was the highlight for the Mariners in the third set. The front row had a hitting percentage of .435%, a combined 11 kills, and only one error. Freshman outside hitter, Kaylee Armstrong led with our highest hitting percentage of .750% and Freshman middle blocker Siyah Grigsby followed with a .556% earning 5 of our team's 11 kills for set three.

The Mariners will host Solano College on Wednesday, Oct. 5, in a 6 pm match at the Don Barksdale Court.
