Women’s Volleyball Wraps Up 2023 Season

The conclusion of the 2023 season for the Mariners Women's Volleyball team marks a season of notable achievements and heartfelt farewells. The team capped off their campaign with a 14-12 overall record and an impressive 8-4 standing in the Bay Valley Conference, securing a commendable 3rd place.

Among the standout performers were freshmen Jayva Andersen, finishing the season 5th in hitting percentage (.230), and Nadya Novichkova, the freshman setter, who claimed the 2nd position in assists per set with an impressive 6.71.

Recognizing the outstanding contributions of the players, sophomore Aaliyah Langford earned the prestigious title of 1st Team All-Conference as a middle hitter. Meanwhile, Nadya Novichkova and Maylin Sanchez were honored with 2nd Team All-Conference accolades.

Coach Seeley commended the team's key players, emphasizing Aaliyah's prowess as a top-performing hitter and versatile backrow player. Despite battling an injury throughout the season, Nadya showcased exceptional skills, proving herself as the driving force behind the team's offense. Maylin Sanchez emerged as the defensive linchpin, leading the team in digs and demonstrating unmatched resilience on the court.

As the Mariners bid farewell to four impactful sophomores—Vivianna McKinney, Aaliyah Langford, Liz Mayorga, and Maylin Sanchez—gratitude is extended for their significant contributions to the Women’s Volleyball program. Additionally, freshman setter Gwynne Chapin will be embarking on a mission with her church, and the program expresses appreciation for her dedication both on and off the court.

Looking ahead, the Women’s Volleyball program eagerly anticipates a future marked by growth and continued success.
