Tessa Transfers to UCSD

Tessa Pares has announced she has selected University of California San Diego (UCSD) to continue her educational pursuits. Pares served as team captain of both the Water Polo Team and the Men's and Women's Swim and Dive team and has been a standout academically and athletically. Tessa was accepted at a number of other elite institutions, but chose UCSD over such institutions as UC Berkeley.

In Water Polo, Pares was a founding member of the women's squad and started all 12 games in the Fall 2021 campaign, netting 31 goals, and added 29 assists to go with 39 steals. Pares's performance helped solidify a 4-2 conference record which landed the Mariners in second place in the Coast Conference North.

On the swimming side, Tessa had an outstanding overall performance on the season landing her a place in the State Championships. At the State Championship event she swam a lifetime best in the 400 IM and her best time of the year in the 500 freestyle.

Athletic Director, Ryan Byrne noted, "We are so proud of Tessa. She has been such a phenominal contributor to our program. Her leadership has been outstanding on and off the deck. We are in the business of creating opportunities. We work hard to create a great framework, the plan, and the support structure, but the students do the work. She has worked hard and it has paid off."
