10/21/2022 - College of Marin's Women's Water Polo side had a great day against Foothill College, with a score line of 9-6. It was a wonderfully contested match as the two sides came against each other with impressive preparations and wanted to establish their stamp of authority

While the side played like a well-bonded team, Alana McCartney led the offense as she dominated the opposition for most of the game. She finished the game with an impressive 5 goals, 6 stunning steals, and forced 3 exclusion fouls. Her dominant presence made the game a lot easier for the team. Moreover, Lily Weires' impactful presence was also crucial to our side's success. Lily also managed to draw 4 exclusions, which did not allow the opposition to gain momentum and also drew more opportunities for our side to score. All in all, it was a great team effort from our ladies, who played like a team and did not let the opposition get off the hook.

Moreover, it is equally important to talk about the defensive lines. While the ladies at the back stood firm against the opposition's attacks, our goalie Lexie Gallardo managed to genuinely tough blocks as she prevented the opposition from scoring and ensured that our team retained the scoring advantage. Her valiant efforts at the back deserve all the praise and respect.

Our key team member, Rebecca Janssen, acknowledged the team's unity by commenting:

"They are a formidable opponent and made us really play our best. I am thankful we came together and pulled off the win."

At the end of the match, the coach seemed genuinely pleased with the team’s efforts and performance. Toward the end of the game, the coach commented

"The ladies went out and handled business and got the win."

This shows how well-defined the players' roles are in this team and how settled the whole unit looks.

Up Next: The Mariners will host Foothill College on Tue, Nov. 1st in a 12:30 pm match at the Miwok Aquatics Center – Indian Valley Campus.
