Women’s Water Polo Season Preview

Women’s Water Polo Season Preview

The Mariners are welcoming back Head Coach Steve Carrera and Assistant Coach Lia Oliver for the 2022 water polo season. Leading by example and coaching with positive reinforcement is this years objective for the coaching staff. This will happen by “taking care of the athlete first and the rest will follow” as quoted from Coach Lia.

In her second season, Coach Lia is bringing a younger perspective to College of Marin Athletics. She played at a NCAA DII college, making her relatable to the athletes as she was in their position not too long ago.

The Mariners bring in a lot of talent this year and the goal is to put up a fight with the teams that beat us last year -Coach Lia

Water polo has one returner this season and her presence has set a precedent on how COM water polo is ran through leading by example and guiding the younger players with her experience.

This is the second year for the women’s water polo program and the coaches are very excited to see where the team will lead them this season.

The Mariners first competition of the season is September 14th, 1:00PM at our Indian Valley Campus, located at 1800 Ignacio Blvd.
