College of Marin's Annual Student Athlete Banquet took place Thursday, May 14th at Fussleman Hall at the Kentfield Campus of College of Marin. The night honored the eight College of Marin Athletics teams for their awards and accolades for the 2014-2015 season.
College of Marin professor Walter Turner gave the oppening address where he discussed the pitfalls and challenges of being a community college student athlete. He enouraged the athletes to never give up and keep striving to succeed in current and future endeavours.
Following the speech, each coach spoke about their team and named a team MVP:
Men's Soccer: Jose Martinez - Forward
Women's Soccer: Patty Lindsay - Goalkeeper
Track & Field: Khoumeini Benbouzid - Distance
Swim & Dive: Emma Pedlar - Freestyle/Breastroke
Volleyball: Diana Patrick - Outside Hitter
Baseball: Matthew Tarantino - Shortstop
Men's Basketball: Pierre Carter - Guard
Women's Basketball: Jenna May - Forward
Athletic Director Matt Markovich concluded the festivities by awarding the Male and Female Athlete of the Year Awards to Men's Basketball player Pierre Carter and Volleyball Player Diana Patrick.
